A Little Boys Dream Come True

We had been planning for a home addition for about a year now, probably longer.  It is finally starting.  Our boys were so excited to come home from a visit to Joel's parents' home to find all this going on in our yard.  When it is all done we will gain a family room, a mudroom/laundry room and two bedrooms along with a small back porch!
Two earth-mover machines have taken up residence in our yard for the time being.  We were not home for the ground breaking, and a good bit of the dirt had been taken away when we arrived, but the two large piles left, and a pile of cinder and a full box of sand have kept the kids pretty happy in the yard the last few days.
Ummm, should we be up here?  I guess they can't hurt it :)
The second day of construction left the footers poured and part of the foundation wall being built.  Our kids had to try jumping out the dining room window into the "pit".  It is about a six or seven foot drop.
Another exciting addition to our yard!  We have been keeping a watch on the robin's nest in a low branch in one of our trees.  We were excited to find that three baby robins have hatched and are doing good, despite living in a construction zone now.  Rachael informed me yesterday that they have opened their eyes now.
The view from my dining room window on .Monday evening.  The foundation is mostly done.  If the rain will quit today, this part will be finished up and framing begin next week.  Our yard is such amess, which is expected.  The children spent the entire day outside yesterday.  The contractor brought along his one son, about age eight to help, and Benny and Elijah and Rachael played with hiim all day long.
Timothy  has caught the cold that has been going around our home.  He is pretty miserable with it, and I feel bad for him.  He is back to getting up multiple times at night and with our early morning routine, he has me pretty wiped out.
I moved Timothy out of the bassinet into the pack and play in our room.  In doing that, I was able to clean things up and rearrange a few things, so at least our bedroom is nice and clean.  Timothy is such an active baby, and fusses so much as he tries to settle in for sleep that he didn't have enough room in the bassinet to roll around.  Now he does.
