Our Luke turns Three!!

Earlier this week we had the joy of celebrating the birthday of our seventh child, Luke.  It is hard to believe he is three years old already.  But he is, and we had a nice time celebrating those three years.  We went up to Joel's parents' home on Sunday after church to enjoy dinner with them for Father's Day and cake for Luke's birthday. The bigger children were able to swim and play outside a bit.

Poor Luke ended up with a Birthday trip to the ER that night as he got his finger stuck in the hinge to a folding stool.  His finger was cut pretty severely and we took him to make sure it wasn't broken (it wasn't, thankfully) and to get stitches.  They only put butterfly stitches on, which was a mistake.  They fell off the next day and by then our pediatrician said, it was too late to put real stitches in.  I was glad the ER got us in and out in two hours, but I think that he really should have been stitched.   So our day trip ended up being an overnight visit.
On Luke's actual birthday (which he was convinced was NOT his birthday) we had a small little celebration for him here.  My parents came over to join us for dinner and donuts for dessert.  We gave Luke a new big-wheel and he enjoyed breaking in to the huge bag of M&M's he got along with a few kiddie DVDs from my parents.

Luke, you are a joy to our household.  We really CANNOT imagine, and indeed, would not want to think of our family without you in it.  You are a cheerful, and sweet-hearted little boy and it has been so fun to watch you grow.  Luke, your giggle and your serious reasoning fill our home from morning to evening.  You are easy going and get along very well with all your siblings.  You still have a special affection for Sissy and she loves you still.  She will let you come in and play dolls with her, even if you like to strip off all their carefully put on clothes.  You love to play at the play ground and run around outside with your brothers.  You enjoy church and going to Sunday school.  Each week as you sit in the stroller during worship, you carefully take off your shoes and socks.  You do love to be barefoot, you almost never have shoes on, and if we put them on to go out, your shoes are off and lost in the van by the time we arrive!  We discovered this week that you HATE big, life size chipmunks!  Your screams of terror filled the library when Chippy came to story time for a visit!  We have been through this before, and in a year or so,  you will be trying to attack Chippy along with the other boys.  But right now, Mommy is enjoying this great mixture of baby (still wanting your blankie and paci for naps, and would have them all day if you were allowed) and big boy-ness mixed up in one incredibly amazing little boy we call Lukie.  Happy Birthday Baby-Luke.  You couldn't be loved more!

Mom had told me how he didn't think it was his birthday little ones are so funny. I can't believe he is 3. Those hair cut pick are a little sad and Timmy does look like Asher, you need to have another girl, b/c you don't need to cut their hair so quickly!
