Derby Day 2010

Rachael and Benny took the camera for a while. There were about ten shots that were very similar to the one above. Our pack does a great job of decorating the cafeteria room we meet in for this event.
Jeremiah getting his car set to race. Each boy races six times, once in each lane. A computer keeps track of the winners of each race. I wonder how it went in the days before computer programming?

Most of our den watching the races. The boys all worked really hard on their cars. Nate had an amphibious vehicle and Jeremiah had a yellow speedster.

Our den at the conclusion of the day. We had the first place winner in our den!! (not one of our boys) and that was quite a big deal since there were 45 cars racing!! Nate and Jeremiah each won a ribbon for different categories and all the participants get a small trophy. Nate and Jeremiah did well, placing in the middle of the pack.
Our pack holds the Pine-Wood Derby on a Sunday afternoon. We all go, and Mom-mom and Pop-pop showed up for a while also. Each kid was given some change to buy goodies and I think Asher and Eli ate so much junk. We did our part to support scouting from the bake sale that day! Rachael was helping the little boys make purchases. It helped that everything was a quarter or less. It is a long afternoon, but lots of fun, and one the boys look forward to for a long time. Our year is winding down in Cub Scouts. In another month they have their banquet and will be promoted to Webelos II, the last level before they are too big for cub scouts! Where did all the time go??
