Pinewood Derby 2011

Jeremiah's car (#46, left) and Nate's car (#45, middle)
The whole pack (minus Benny). We have a great pack, and our boys have really enjoyed participating in Cub Scouts for the last several years.

Jeremiah was so happy this year. He got an award for the most "animal like" car. He had stickers of Bull dogs on his, for Madi Mad-dogs, a nick-name Joel, and now the boys have(it originated with some of Joel's students)! Jeremiah had a total of 9 points, which is only 3 more than a perfect 6, the score you get if you come in first every single time!

Nathanael had a total of 11 points, and considering the work that he and Joel put in to make the car go strait, despite the crooked axels, Nate was thrilled. He also had a ribbon and each boy gets a nice trophy for participation.
Great Job Nate and Jeremiah!!!
So, Nate and Jeremiah just completed their last Pinewood Derby. I cannot believe it. They will finish up with Cub Scouts and move ahead to the regular Boy Scout troop in the spring, if we continue on. It has all gone so fast, and is just a reminder that these days are so fleeting. I was sad to miss it, because it was the last one my big boys would race in. Benny was unable to race his car due to being sick, but we are sure it would have done well. Joel raced it in the trial runs on Saturday and it did very well. Oh well, next year. And it won't be long until Eli is old enough to be a little Tiger. We have enjoyed this organization very much. Joel has had fun doing boyish things with his sons, they have loved doing dangerous things (like sling shots), and I think they are adorable, er, handsome in their uniforms! I love my little men!!

Casey is a cub scout too. This year was his third pinewood race. The first year he came in dead last, last year he got third, and this year he got second. His self esteem was boosted up to the sky. It was so sweet how his friends cheered his car on in the finals. Casey and his grandfather handmade all of his cars. It will be sad when Casey isn't a cub scout any more. Great job boys.
