It's beginning to look a lot like...

...January! In October!!!  We were all suprised by the crazy snow storm we had the weekend before Halloween.
The kids were pretty excited to wake up and see the snow.  It started around 7 or 8 am, and snowed all day.  The boys soccer game was cancelled, so it was the first Saturday in a long time that we had the morning at home.  I made pumpkin pancakes.
We ended up getting about eight wet inches.  The snow was so heavy that it was bringing down the trees.  Joel was outside for a while and he could hear, "SNAP", "Crash", all over the neighborhood.  We lost a few big limbs and our phone and internet lines.  But our power, although it flickered all day, did not go out.   The pictures above are about mid-day.  Sunday morning, on our ride to church was so pretty.  The snow brought all the trees hanging low, covered in dallops of thick white.  It looked like Narnia, with springtime trying to break through.  You didn't have to look far to see the downed wires, broken fences and destroyed trees though.  God is so powerful.

Thankfully it warmed up a few days later and the snow melted away pretty fast.  I am not quite ready for this yet.  I was a very mean mommy and did not let the kids go out to play.  All the snow gear and winter coats were still packed up at my parents house in the garage from when our home was for sale.  I have them now and am better prepared for the next snow!

you can keep all that. Very pretty to look at though. Guess it's no messier than the sand and dust that is eternally tracked thru my house.
